Latranyi Records Hat-Trick in Loss at Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, PA – The Alfred University women's lacrosse team played a road game at Westminster College on Friday afternoon. The Saxons were defeated by a score of 20-4 and fell to 0-3 on the season.

Madison Latranyi (Danville, PA/Danville Area) played her best game of the season thus far, recording a hat trick on just six shots to lead the Saxons.  This makes two straight games for Latranyi with multiple goals scored.

Taylor Miller (Medina, NY/Medina)also had a productive day for the Saxons with a goal and an assist.

Paige Rowlee (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) played all 60 minutes in goal for Alfred and ended with 12 saves. Rowlee also led AU with 10 ground balls.

Julia Myszkiewicz (Buffalo, NY/Amherst)and MacKenzie McWilliams (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown)each caused two turnovers.

After going down 5-0 in the first half, Miller helped the Saxons on the board just about seven minutes into the contest. Miller then assisted on Latranyi's first goal with 13:46 left in the half.

Westminster led Alfred 14-2 at the break.

Latranyi scored her second goal with nearly eight minutes left in the game then secured the hat trick with her third and final goal with just under two minutes to play.

"This week has been all about learning more about each other and growing together both on and off the field," Head Coach Erin McGaffigan said. "We've benefitted from multiple team sessions over the break, and we are seeing our connections and self awareness improve all over the field. We made some great connections in transition, and we continue to see fantastic growth from our first years. Unfortunately, we got caught on the wrong side of injury this week which left us down in different areas on the field, but we continued to work hard for each other throughout the entire game and I'm very pleased with our cohesiveness."

The Saxons will be at Hilbert College next Thursday for a 4PM matchup with the Hawks.
