ALFRED, NY -- The Alfred University men's swimming & diving team showcased its first member on the Empire 8 Weekly Awards selections as Chris Deaver (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) was named the Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Deaver first claimed an overall win on the 1-meter board with a score of 274.30 on Saturday at Fredonia in a tri-meet with University of Rochester, but the real story came on the 3-meter board. Deaver's winning score of 296.30 qualified him for the NCAA Northeast Regional Meet in March. This will be his third trip to the NCAA Regionals since joining the team during the 2015-16 season. He competed in the March meet in 2016, 2018 and will go in 2019.

Deaver and the Saxons will next close out the 2018 portion of the academic year with a three-day stay at the Ithaca College Bomber Invitational on Friday, November 30 until Sunday, December 2.
