FREDONIA, NY – The Alfred University men's swimming & diving team competed against Fredonia and University of Rochester on Saturday afternoon at Fredonia.

Noah Koltenuk (Danville, PA/Danville Area), Chris Deaver (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) and Andy Edmister (Belmont, NY/Genesee Valley) were all two-time overall winners on the day. Koltenuk decimated the rest of the pool in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:14.73 as he topped everyone by 16 seconds or more. He the defeated the field by 10 or more seconds with his 4:55.31 finish in the 500-free. Koltenuk also defeated Fredonia in the 200-yard butterfly with a 2:06.07 finish.

Deaver first claimed an overall win on the 1-meter board with a score of 274.30 but the real story came on the 3-meter. Deaver's winning score of 296.30 qualified him for the NCAA Northeast Regional Meet in March. Edmister won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.13 while claiming his second 'W' in the 200-back with a 1:56.31.

"Great effort this week following a tough week of workouts and a rough weekend a week ago," Head Coach Brian Striker said. "The men had a good amount of great performances today, Chris's [Deaver] win and score on the 3-meter board secured him a spot at the NCAA regional meet. Andrew [Edmister] had a solid 200-back time for this early in our season, as was Koltenuk's 500. [Richard] Berger and [Justin] Jarmer also had a great meet. In a comparison week to week from last week, we did much better. I am looking forward to another hard week of work before we head into Thanksgiving Break and the Ithaca Invitational in three weeks."

Richard Berger (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz) won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.35 for his solo, overall win over both schools. Berger defeated Fredonia with a 2:20.20 finish in the 200-breaststroke.

Zachary Goodwin (Holden, MA/Wachusett) followed Edmister in the 100-back with a 58.45, second place finish over Fredonia. Goodwin also was right behind Ryan Brown (Olean, NY/Olean) for yet another one-two finish as Brown swam a 56.86 and Goodwin a 57.54 in the 100-yard butterfly.

The Saxons will next travel to Ithaca College for a three-day invitational meet on Friday, November 30 until Sunday, December 2. Friday's events start at 6PM as both Saturday and Sunday begin at 10AM.
