The Saxons (2-4-1, 0-0 Empire 8) played solid defense in the first half of play, led by sophomore defender
Danielle Perry (Leicester, NY/York) and first-year defender
Amanda Guariglia (Valley Stream, NY/ Valley Stream South).

"In the first half we executed what we wanted to do, making the field small, forcing them to shoot from long distance," said head coach
Craig Yanni. "Sammy faced some easy shots."

Sammy Jo Shanahan (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream South) made 13 saves on 16 shots faced while earning the loss.

Alfred starts the first of four road games this Saturday, September 23
rd, as they open conference play against Elmira at 1 p.m. When asked about opening conference play, coach Yanni said "We're excited, looking to get everyone healthy and back out on the field."
