UTICA, NY – The Alfred University women's lacrosse team fell to host Utica College, 22-3, Saturday afternoon in Empire 8 play.
The Saxons (2-7,0-4 Empire 8) were led offensively by junior
Miranda Gilbert (Watertown, NY/Watertown) with two goals, while junior
Taylor Miller (Medina, NY/Medina) picked up one goal to complete the scoring for Alfred.
Defensively, junior goalie
Shannon Gray (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) led Alfred University with five ground balls and four caused turnovers, with senior
Dana Ganley (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) picking up four ground balls. Gilbert also finished the contest with three ground balls.
Gray went the distance in net, making 21 saves.
The Saxons are next in action on Wednesday, April 12, as they travel to D'Youville College, with the game time set at 6 p.m.
