ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University men's swimming and diving team dropped their matchups with Rochester and Fredonia in an AU-hosted tri-meet Saturday afternoon.

The Saxons lost to Rochester (216-75) and Fredonia (192-107) to fall to 1-3 on the year in dual meet action.

Junior
Alec Toth (Lockport, NY/Starpoint) and junior
Joe Lawrence (Clarence Center, NY/Clarence) earned Alfred's lone wins. Toth finished second overall in the 200 backstroke (2:04.88) and Lawrence did the same in the 100 butterfly (55.07). Both won their respective events against Fredonia. Toth was also third overall in the 200 freestyle (1:51.93), good enough for second against Fredonia.

Other top swimmers for AU included: freshman
Andrew Edmister (Belmont, NY/Genesee Valley), third overall and second vs. Freodnia in the 100 backstroke (57.61); and sophomore
Zach Goodwin (Holden, MA/Wachusett), fourth overall and second vs. Fredonia in the 200 back (2:12.03).

Michael Guarglia (Hornell, NY/Hornell), senior
Andrew Grant (Akron, NY/Akron), senior
Derek Ciraolo (Grand Island, NY/St. Joseph's) and Toth took second overall and won against Fredonia in the 200 free relay (1:34.04).

AU is in action next on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 1 p.m. at RIT.
