Megan Wendt (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) scored five goals each en route to a 15-6 win over Hilbert College Wednesday evening at Yunevich Stadium.

Miranda Gilbert (Watertown, NY/Watertown) and sophomore
Rachel Ball (Corfu, NY/Pembroke), netting two goals each. Sophomore
Leah Ellithorpe (Camillus, NY/West Genesee) added a goal in the contest as well.

Wendt led the Saxons with two assists while snagging four groundballs. Button claimed a team-high five groundballs and a game-high three caused turnovers. Sophomore
Dana Ganley (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) snagged three groundballs and caused two turnovers. Ellithorpe and junior
Brianna Dudick (Somers, NY/Somers) had two caused turnovers each.

The Saxons opened the game with seven unanswered goals in the first nine minutes. Finally, with 20:45 to go in the half, the Hawks found their way onto the scoreboard on a
Chelsea Adamski goal. Two minutes later Button reached a hat trick on the afternoon. She would add a fourth goal to her tally two minutes later on a pass from
Aubrey Fry (Greenwood, NY/Jasper-Troupsburg).Â

AU would score three more times before the half while allowing only one goal to Hilbert College. At the half, the Saxons were securely in control of a 12-2 lead.

Ellithorpe opened the scoring three minutes into the second half with her lone score of the day on a pass from Wendt. The assist was Wendt's second of the contest.Â

With time running out Hilbert looked to recover some ground, scoring two back-to-back goals in a span of four minutes. However, AU would reclaim that advantage only minutes later on goals from Ball and Wendt. The Hawks closed the affair with a goal at the 8:24 and 1:19 marks.Â

Freshman
Shannon Gray (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) was in goal for the Saxons, making 11 saves and allowing only six goals. Stephanie Glaza played the entire game for the Hawks, making 13 saves and allowing 15 goals.
