ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University men's swimming and diving team dropped a 132-102 decision to visiting RIT Saturday in the Saxons' home-opening meet.
 
Junior Christopher Deaver (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) was a double winner for the Saxons (0-2), sweeping the diving events. Deaver won the 3-meter event with 235.57 points and winning on the 1-meter board with 229.95 points.
 
Sophomore Joseph Lawrence (Clarence Center, NY/Clarence) was Alfred's other individual event winner, taking the  100-yard butterfly in 53.78 seconds. Lawrence also finished second in the 50 freestyle (23.02).
 
Sophomore Alec Toth (Lockport, NY/Starpoint) had a pair of second-place finishes for AU: in the 200 free (1:50.73) and 500 free (5:06.21).
 
Alfred is in action next on Friday, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m. at Fredonia.
