Facility Rates, Updates and Hours

New York State funding and donations from Board of Trustee members Charlie Joyce and Sherry Walton '80, '88 MS, has made the health and wellness annex to the McLane Center possible.

The Joyce & Walton Family Center for Health & Wellness is a 33,000 square foot facility at the north end of McLane that houses an indoor three-lane track and three smaller basketball courts, one full-length basketball court, lines for two indoor doubles tennis courts, a full-size volleyball court, lines for three pickleball courts, men's and women's locker rooms, storage areas for varsity sport usage, a track & field long/triple jump sand pit, a well for setup of an indoor pole vault pit and an elevator leading to the second floor track.

Also on the second floor, the Whitford Multipurpose Room is located next to the locker rooms and cross country/track & field coach's office. The multipurpose area houses a separate storage area, two walls fitted with mirrors and a hardwood floor ideal for dance and other cardiovascular training activities.

The recreation center benefits the AU community and the Alfred community at large. It is available to the public, providing a facility that can host activities aimed at promoting health and fitness. It also provides a training facility for the Saxon track, softball, tennis and lacrosse teams and the courts will help accommodate the University's intramural programs.
