ALFRED, NY—Miasia Hillman (Buffalo, NY/Hutch Tech) has been named the Alfred University female Athlete of the Week following her performance at the New York State Collegiate Track Conference indoor championship meet at RIT Friday and Saturday
Hillman is being honored after sweeping the 60 and 200-meter dashes with times of 7.84 seconds and 25.63 seconds, respectively. Her time in the 200-meter dash puts her at the top of the AU record book in the event. She was also named the Empire 8 track athlete of the week.
Hillman has the 15th-fastest 60-meter time (7.77 seconds, Jan. 23 at Brockport) and the 17th-fastest 200-meter time (25.63 seconds from the state championships Saturday). The top 16 in each event qualify to compete at the NCAA Division III championship meet, March 13-14 in Winston-Salem, NC.
Hillman has a final chance to move up in the national rankings in both sprint events when she competes this weekend at the ECAC indoor championships, March 6 and 7 in New York City. She will also run in the 4X200-meter relay at the ECAC meet.
