Cupp had another successful week for the Saxons in a split during the week. On Wednesday against the Golden Eagles, he went 11-for-17 on face-off attempts alongside seven ground balls. On Saturday afternoon, he had a historic, record-setting performance – one of many he has had this season. He went 30-for-34 on face-offs, breaking the single-game record for face-off wins in Saxon history set by Garrette Briggs ’20, ’21 against Houghton University in 2019 and Cupp now sits No. 2 all-time in Empire 8 history, one short against St. John Fisher's Joe Post's 31 face-off victories set in 2019. In addition, he tied Briggs’ single-game record for most ground balls with 24. His exceptional performance also saw him tack on a goal against the Hawks.Â
