Junior Christopher Deaver earned not one, but two Empire 8 Men’s Diving Championships on Wednesday and Friday during the 2018 Empire 8 Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Nazareth College at Webster Schroeder High School. He started off with the 3-meter win on Wednesday. He won the event with a score of 484.40 which was less than 17 points away from breaking the school record and 11 points away from breaking his personal best. On Friday, he soared past the 1-meter school record with 500.30 points on his way to his second win of the week. Deaver’s previous personal best was a 470.50 and the school record was 477.40. He earned All-Empire 8 First Team for both events as well as the Male Diver of the Meet on Saturday. He will next attend the NCAA Division III Regional Qualifier Meet this Friday, March 2 at Ithaca College to attempt to earn a spot in the National Championships in Indianapolis, IN from March 21-March 24.
