Box Score KEUKA PARK, NY- The Alfred University women's basketball team fell to Keuka College, 65-64, on the road Tuesday evening. This non-conference matchup dropped AU to 5-7 on the season (0-3 Empire 8).
Junior guard
Emilea Harrision (Conesus, NY/Dansville) helped jump start the Lady Saxons' offense, with six points in the first half, keeping them ahead until the Storm battled their way into the lead with 3:23 left in the first frame of play. Keuka held a 34-30 advantage at intermission.
In the second half, Harrison hit a 3-pointer inside 14 minutes of the second half, giving the Lady Saxons a seven-point lead (51-44).
Taylor Szwec later converted on a 3-pointer, putting Keuka ahead again, 63-60, with 1:41 remaining in regulation. Keuka remained in the driver's seat as time expired for the win.
During a game with 13 lead changes, both teams shared the lead down the stretch. For the game, Alfred shot 48 percent from the field and 28 percent from beyond the arc.
Junior guard
Harley Cleary (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) led AU in scoring, finishing seven-for-14 from the field and three-for-eight from the 3-point line, for a team-best 17 points. Harrison scored 14 points and pulled down nine rebounds, while sophomore forward
Hailey Sick (Dansville, NY/Dansville) added nine points, and dished out four assists. Senior forward
Sarah Federico (Buffalo, NY/Holy Angels) grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds.
Danielle Gravel was high scorer for Keuka, with 17 points, and Szwec followed with 15 points.
AU resumes Empire 8 play against Hartwick College on Friday, Jan. 17, at 8 p.m.
