CANTON, NY – The Alfred University men's indoor track and field team finished 13
th at the New York State Collegiate Track Conference (NYSCTC) indoor championships, held Friday and Saturday at St. Lawrence University's Newell Fieldhouse.
AU senior
Mykel Ferguson (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) finished in fourth place in the heptathlon, accumulating 4,091 points in the seven events. On Saturday, Ferguson competed in the 60-meter hurdles (9.26 seconds), the pole vault (3.25 meters) and the 1,000-meter run (3:09.05). On Friday, he ran a 7.45 second 60-meter dash and had a 5.72-meter long jump, a 10.88-meter shot put, and a 1.78-meter high jump.
Also on Saturday, sophomore
Gregory Matos (Bronx, NY/ELLIS Prep) was third in the 400-meter run (51.19 seconds); senior
Nolan Rummel (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) was eighth in the 1,000-meter run (2:35.68); and freshman
Jeffery Nunez (Wurtsboro, NY/Ellenville) was ninth in the weight throw (14.02 meters).
AU is in action next on Friday and Saturday, March 7 and 8, at the ECAC championships in Boston, MA.
