Warner "Chet" Micciche began his sports career at Smithtown Branch High School where he was active in baseball and basketball. His real love was playing football and during his senior year he was named to the All-County team.

When "Chet" came to AU, his career began under the watchful eye of legendary head coach, Alex Yunevich. During his four years on the varsity team, he would be on the losing side three times, with his last year the most memorable by helping his team to an 8-0 record with six shutouts.

Micciche graduated in 1956 with a bachelor's degree in business. He then spent four years with Penn Mutual Life as a sales representative and ten years with Connecticut General Life as an insurance planner. He also kept close tied to AU and Coach Yunevich by acting as a scout for 15 years.
