Steve Ratliff was a defensive end for the AU football team from 1978-81.
Ratliff enjoyed a tremendous senior season in 1981, when the the Saxons went unbeaten in the regular season (10-0) and earned the school's only berth in the NCAA Division III championship tournament. He helped anchor a defense that allowed 9.4 points per game and 183 yards per contest, including a mere 65 yards rushing per game (tops in Division III). That year, Ratliff had 67 tackles, including a team-leading 10 sacks, and was named an Associated Press honorable mention All American and an ECAC Upstate First Team all-star.
Ratliff graduated from AU in 1982 with a bachelor's degree in liberal arts. After graduation from AU, Ratliff played semi-pro football with the Syracuse Express from 1982-87, earning all-league honors each season. He was captain on the Express teams that won a pair of national championships (1985 and 1987).
He is currently president and CEO of Ratliff Rentals, a Baldwinsville, NY, business he founded in 1995.
Ratliff lives in North Syracuse with his wife, Heidi, and their, son, John, and daughter, Nicole.
