Football and track & field standout while at Alfred University. Played four years of football. New York State small college champion in low and high hurdles. Held the AU 220-yard record at 21.2 and 440-yard record in hurdles at 53.3. Played in Gem Bowl football game as a senior in 1962. Saxon Athlete of the Year in 1962.
