Although his birthplace in Newark, NJ, Bourne went to high school in Rochester, NY where he attended Irondequoit High School. At AU, Bourne was a four-year letterman on the men's soccer team (1975-79) but made his biggest mark in lacrosse.

Bourne was second in the nation in save percentage his final two seasons (1977-78) and still holds the AU record for saves in a career (637). In addition, Bourne also shared the record (with Tim Leonard) for most saves in a game (33), which we accomplished twice.

The moment Bourne remembers fondest, however, was when he turned the tables on the opposition and accomplished a goalie's dream by scoring a goal during his AU career.

Bourne is the first lacrosse player to be inducted into the AU Sports Hall of Fame.
