Margaret Baleno is arguably the top women's skier ever at AU.

She led her team to the United States Collegiate Ski Association (USCSA) Mid-Atlantic Regionals three times (1990, 1992, 1993) and to the USCSA National Championships once (1993), where the Saxons placed ninth, the women's team's best-ever finish at the nationals.

Baleno was the individual regional champion as a senior in 1993 and earned All-American honors by placing seventh at the national meet.

Baleno continues to ski competitively. Last winter, she was the top woman in the Snow Country New York Master's Series and was the Eastern Regional and national champion for her age group.

A resident of Rochester, Baleno graduated from Alfred in 1993 with a bachelor's degree in education. She also earned a master's degree in education from Nazareth College and is currently a middle school teacher in the Churchville-Chili School District.
