He was a 139-pound freshman when he reported to football at Alfred University. Top weight was 155 pounds. At one time held array of AU track & field records including 9.8 100-meter and 49.0 400-meter times. Eastern Intercollegiate low hurdle champion in 1954. Drafted 13th overall by the Chicago Cardinals of the National Football League and played four years in the NFL. Ran 105 yards for touchdown the first time he touched a football in a professional game.
