Despite being undersized, Keith Gregory made a big impression on the AU football and lacrosse teams. His lasting legacy to AU was the fact he was the co-founder of the Alfred University lacrosse club, the forerunner to AU's currently intercollegiate program which participated in three of four NCAA tournaments during the early 1990's.
After starting the lacrosse club in the spring of 1964, the Garden City, NY native played on the first intercollegiate teams at AU from 1966-68, earning a berth to the prestigious North-South game during his senior season.
The man his teammates called "Slats" was an All-Upstate New York selection after his sophomore season. That year Gregory caught eight touchdown passes on offense and was second on the team in tackles on defense while going both ways.
That season also produced Gregory's biggest thrill as a Saxon - AU's stirring 18-16 victory over top-ten ranked Susquehanna University at Merrill Field. Gregory is a 1968 graduate of AU who earned in bachelor of science degree in economics and business.
