Arguably one of the most active student-athletes to ever grace campus of Alfred University, Edleson found time to become one of the most noted basketball players in New York State and set a record that stood for many years on the AU track & field team.
A varsity basketball player for three years, Edleson capped his career by being named as one of the most outstanding basketball players in New York State by a panel of NYS sportswriters.
Edleson, a graduate of Washington Irving High School, led the team in scoring in both his junior and senior seasons on the hardwood. As a member of the AU track & field team, Edleson set the record in the discus toss with a throw of 126-4-.5.
Extremely active on campus, Edleson was President of the Varsity 'A' Club, Phi Psi Omega and the Alfred Intramural Association in 1936. He was also the Vice President of Kappa Nu fraternity in 1936 and a member of the Spike Shoe National Intercollegiate Society.
Edleson enlisted in the Army in 1941 and was later the Postmaster General for Tarrytown from 1954 until his retirement in 1979. Edleson and his wife Sonya have two daughters, Abby and Harriet.
Edleson also served as a village trustee and Police Commissioner in his hometown of Tarrytown.
