Howard Seidman left Alfred University as the most decorated student-athletes in Saxon sport history. He returned 10 years later with both of his records set at the 1984 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships still intact. That in itself tells of the legacy that Seidman left behind at Alfred as the school's only multiple national champion.
The Cheltenham High School graduate won six national titles altogether and in the spring of 1984, set the national standards in both the 100 and 200 yard breaststrokes. Seidman was invited to the Olympic Trials in 1984 after picking up his Bachelor of Science degree in sociology from AU.
Seidman was undefeated in the breaststroke in his sophomore, junior and senior seasons and helped AU compile a 42-9 dual meet record. The Saxons had two of their three undefeated seasons in school history with Seidman helping to lead the way during the 1982-83 and 1983-84 seasons.
He is currently SVP of the Consolidated Mortgage Corporation in Philadelphia, PA. The father of four children, Seidman makes his home in Merion, PA.
