Eric Winkky, a member of the AU men's swimming and diving teams that posted unbeaten dual-meet seasons in 1987-88 and 1988-89, was named an All-American in three of his four seasons at AU. He earned All-American certification two times in individual events and five times on relays, earning First Team honors with his eighth place in the 100-yard backstroke at the 1990 NCAA meet. At the time of his graduation, he held school records in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke and 200-yard and 400-yard individual medley.

As his fondest memory as an AU athlete, Winkky cites the team's unbeaten 1989 season and his competing three straight years in the NCAA championships.

Winkky graduated from Alfred University in 1990 with a bachelor's degree in political science and also in 1992 with a master's degree in community services administration. While earning his master's degree from AU, he served as a graduate assistant coach for the Saxon men's swimming and diving team from 1990-92. Winkky is a parole officer for the New York State Division of Parole in Elmira, NY. He has stayed involved in swimming, serving as an assistant coach for the Corning (NY) YMCA River Rats youth swim team.

Winkky and his wife, Tanya, live in Horseheads, NY, with their three children: Kenyon, Kaelan, and Keagan.
