Alfred University Athletics

"Charlie" came to Alfred in 1982 from Stravenger, Norway. During his three-year career, he put up some impressive numbers both in and out of the classroom.

On the field, Gilje was an All-American selected as a member of the New York State All-Star team each year. His greatest accomplishment was scoring the winning goal against Plattsburgh in the 1983 ECAC final match.

In the classroom, as a finance and marketing major, Kjell was on the Dean's List all six semesters he was at Alfred. He was also inducted into Phi Kappa Phi, Alpha Iota Delta and Delta Mu Delta honor societies. After leaving Alfred, he completed his MBA at Babson College in 1984.
