In his four seasons at Alfred University, Charles Young broke all pass-receiving records.
For his career he had 131 receptions for 2,530 yards and 29 touchdowns. He held the one-season mark for 43 receptions and also most yards in one season (913).
In 1971, when the Saxons were undefeated and won the Lambert Bowl as small college champions of the East, Young was the team's leading scorer with 10 receiving touchdowns. His best day was against Hobart with 9 receptions for 200 yards.
When AU won the famous comeback triumph at Hobart, Charlie scored on a 76-yard pass play.
Perhaps his most memorable reception was in a game at Cortland. This was in the end zone with two defenders on top of him. The TD came with nine seconds remaining in the game to earn AU the win.
He made all the "All" teams at Hornell High School. He was set to start the opening game of the season for the Buffalo Bills when a knee injury ended his career.
He earned a degree in Physical Education from Brockport and a Master's degree from Central Michigan.
Has one son (Karl) and one daughter (Katrina).
