Brian Andrews was a four-year member of the Alfred University men’s basketball program. At the time of his graduation, he was third in the all-time career points with 1,474. He still holds the AU record for most 3-pointers attempted in a game with 17 in 1987 versus Union College, as well as career and season records for 3-point field goal percentages, finishing his career with an average of 53.9% of 3-pointers being made, hitting 96-of-178. Andrews also has the career and season records for assists, totaling 554 in his career and 193 in the 1986-87 season.
 
Andrews was an National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) East All-Region Second Team selection after his senior season while also being named the Independent College Athletic Conference (ICAC)(now known as the Empire 8) Player of the Year and First Team selection in the same season. He was also selected to the ICAC All-Conference First Team in 1984-85.
 
Since the 1983-84 season, Andrews helped the Saxons go 66-41 under the direction of Head Coach, Ron Frederes. Andrews’ junior season saw one of the best seasons in school history as the Saxons went 25-3, advancing to the NCAA tournament to defeat Nazareth College, 88-86 in the opening round.
